Date Converter

Rajan Nepal's Date Converter has been used by Nepali Consulates, Governement Offices for over 8 years. It is also being used by applicants of Green Card Visa Lottery (E-DV Visa), green card, foreign college/university admissions, and Visa for jobs and immigration abroad. It accurately converts Nepali date of birth to English (Gregorian calendar) that can be used to complete those application forms.

Possible change in Nepali Calendar Year 2066

Concerned authorities in Nepal are discussing on skipping the Nepali month of Chaitra (12th month) in Nepali year 2066. The main reason is that the lunar calendar is lagging behind by 24 days and the fix would allow the festivals to be celebrated on the appropriate days. The converter and calendar on this site will be updated accordingly once a decision is made by the Government of Nepal.

Nepali Calendar

Nepali Calendar is based on Bikram Sambat (B.S.) - बिक्रम संवत - and is approximately 56 years 8 months ahead of A.D. The Bikram Sambat calendar was started in 57 B.C. by King Bikramaditya in India. The number of days in a month varies from month to month and may not be the same in different years. The days in a Nepali month range from 29 to 32.

Nepali Time

Nepal has a unique Time Zone. Nepal Standard Time is 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT. There are no other countries in the world which has a time zone difference increment of 15 minutes (most are in hours and a few have half an hour). Source Code

The current web version of date converter uses ASP.NET 3.5 and SQL Server 2005. Unfortunately, source code cannot be distributed.

Download

A downloadable date converter and calendar software that can be used offline is in the works and will be released sometime this year. Please check this site regularly and it will be announced here first.
